Avatar Day in Germany

There is a movie that currently creates an enourmous hype on the IMDB boards. And this movie isn’t released until Christmas ! This movie is called Avatar and is written and directed by James Cameron. „Who ?“ would you say … well, James Cameron is simply the best action director of the world and one of the greatest visionaries in the business. He directed landmark movies like Terminator 1&2, Aliens, Abyss and finally the most successful movie of all time: Titanic. Even if you don’t like the love story of Titanic it’s technically top notch with breakthrough visual effects.

After Titanic Cameron took a break of over 10 years during which he filmed underwater documentaries (Ghosts of the Abyss, Aliens of the Deep). He invented new kinds of 3D cameras and motion capture systems. Everything now comes together in his new science-fiction epic Avatar. The industry expects the next quantum leap in photorealistic CGI and 3D technology. Some scenes were already shown to a closed audience at Comic Con. A first official still emerged in the last days. Finally the trailer will hit the Internet on 21st August.

On 21st August there will be a special event called „Avatar Day“ where you can see 20 minutes of the movie in 3D capable theaters all over the world (for free !). Here you can check if there is a cinema in your area. I’ll try to get a ticket in Stuttgart at Friday. I’ll post an update if I got one 🙂
